Originally self-released by the band on their own Gargoyle Records label in 1988, Black Death is the absolute zenith of eccentric, fiercely independent American heavy metal. Safe, predictable, and generic songwriting have no home here; Black Death is a wild, unhinged journey through dark fantasy, driven by Jim Schumacher’s world-class, hyper-active bass lines and Bobbie Wright’s searing, unpredictable guitar pyrotechnics. From the iconic, galloping title track to the infectious anthems "Fly High" and "Hell's Whip," every single track on this record is a stone-cold classic of the global metal underground.
